Hire Information
The former home and garden of May Gibbs, creator of the Australian classic children’s story, The Complete Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie (1919). Nutcote has been faithfully restored to the period of the 1920s and early 1930s and is listed on the Register of the National Estate. Built in 1925 by noted architect BJ Waterhouse, and nestled on the shores of Sydney harbour at Neutral Bay, May Gibbs’ Nutcote provides an ideal and intimate setting for your wedding or special private function. The property, with its rare period house, formal and native gardens and lawns and stunning harbour views, provides excellent photographic opportunities. Today, May Gibbs’ home and garden is managed by a not-for-profit organisation, Nutcote Trust Pty Ltd, in partnership with North Sydney Council. As part of this agreement we ask all our visitors to respect this important heritage property- the House, gardens and facilities - and ensure that children are carefully supervised.
Fees are applicable Monday to Saturday between the hours of 9am-5pm. Sundays incur double rates.

To Make a Booking
To make a booking for May Gibbs’ Nutcote you must contact a Nutcote staff member either by phone on 02 9953 4453 or by email

to see if the date you would like is available and make a tentative booking. To confirm the booking, please complete the May Gibbs’ Nutcote Private Function Booking Form and accept the Venue Hire Agreement Terms and Conditions below. If booking by post, these should be returned to Nutcote immediately, together with your deposit of $100 and the $200 Function Bond. Cheques should be made payable to the "Nutcote Trust Pty Ltd". Full payment should be made no later than one month prior to the function date.
